Elena Loderer is an abstract painter working with acrylic on canvas. Often based on photographs, she translates the subject into color, shape, and light. Vivid color fields and spatial dynamics take precedence over representational subjects. Her paintings suggest rather than describe. Recently, her work has shifted toward geometric abstraction. 

She studied fine arts at the University of Rochester, Purdue University, and the Rhode Island School of Design, and completed a residency at the School of Visual Arts in New York. 

Her paintings have been exhibited in solo and group shows in Switzerland and internationally.

She was born and raised in Ticino, Switzerland. She currently works and resides in Bolligen, Bern, Switzerland.
